A&J Plastics has proudly served South Africa’s irrigation and plastic piping industry since 1977, growing from a small manufacturing operation into a national leader in irrigation retail and pipe production.

The company was founded by Arend Pouwels, a hands-on entrepreneur whose technical expertise and work ethic laid the foundation for a quality-driven manufacturing business. As demand grew, his son Klaas Pouwels joined the company, establishing and expanding the retail division to strengthen customer service delivery. Soon thereafter, Henk Pouwels joined to support and grow the manufacturing operations, followed by Hans Pouwels in 1995, bringing financial oversight and strategic direction.

Following the passing of Arend in 1998, Klaas, Henk, and Hans continued his legacy with commitment and vision. That same year marked a turning point for the business as A&J Plastics moved into its newly built retail and manufacturing warehouse at 18 Eland Street, Koedoespoort Industrial, Pretoria — a facility that remains the heart of the company to this day.

Through decades of dedicated leadership and industry insight, the Pouwels brothers developed A&J into a respected name across South Africa, known for its reliability, innovation, and customer-focused solutions in the irrigation and plastic piping sectors.
